The client’s home is surrounded by the nearby ocean in the heart of Coronado. A theme of a light, airy and open space inspired by the ocean surrounding is carried throughout the whole home remodel.
The challenge in designing the guest bath was to create a functional space within an odd-shaped room. The clients requested a walk-in shower and an increase in vanity storage and countertop space. A corner shower is placed by the entrance with a glass enclosure to keep the space looking as open as possible. An angled vanity made of natural Sapele provides a spacious look without compromising storage space or design. As a focal point, a band of aqua bubble tiles is used behind the vanity. In order to showcase the beautiful tiles, it was decided to place the mirror on the adjacent wall. Bubble tiles, 6”x6” wall tiles and a matching paint color was all of a similar aqua-blue color to tie in with the remaining of the home and be reminiscent of the ocean views. A skylight helps bring in some natural light.
In the master bath, two white vanities with drawer banks provide organized storage. Carrera marble is used as the countertop, which wraps down the sides and across the deck of the tub to tie the space together and enhance the light and airy space. Simple and clean bathroom fixtures by Kohler were chosen to enhance the flow of movement. The beach-inspired pebbles were used to play off the idea of water falling into the tub and onto its surrounding tub face and bathroom floor. The shower accent glass tiles were chosen to match the pebbles used on the tub area to unite the two areas together. Multiple showerheads provide a luxurious shower experience for the clients. A custom towel heater provides the clients warm and dry towels.
A space that was inspired by the beautiful outdoor views, both bathrooms create a clean, functional and timeless feel for our clients.
