For the design inspiration, these homeowners wanted to incorporate the colors of blue reminiscent of their hometown on the Atlantic Ocean. The original kitchen was small, with a low ceiling, with dark wood beams that were too imposing for the space, and dated features. My clients worked with an architect to remove the beams, raise the ceiling, and open the interior to allow more light into the space. The cabinetry was is South American walnut with accents of Sapele veneer with a wenge stain. The homeowners can now entertain in an open, light-filled space reminiscent of their hometown.
