The Mark Lane 2
This client, a successful surgeon, desired an elegant, dramatic, “cutting edge” home that included much-needed storage space. He also wanted a space to entertain and watch baseball games with friends.
The design solution included a kitchen update, a bar with display for glasses, and creating a media center that would be proportionate to the large concrete wall and would provide enough storage space for books and audio equipment. We also wanted to balance the room, and to cover an existing concrete wall, by installing a dramatic buffet cabinet that also displays art pieces and placing a mirror in the dining area. To delineate the dining area and the living room, a landscape divider that allows for additional storage was also added.
The kitchen was out of date and, therefore, we replaced the dark granite countertop with Bright White Caesarstone. The beige kitchen floor was replaced with modern Spanish porcelain. The media cabinet, dining buffet, and landscape divider were designed using Zebra veneer and accents of Sapele with a wenge custom stain. We also updated the lighting using LBL pendants to define the dining area, living space, and new kitchen countertop.
